Bus driver Bruce Garner took ‘upskirt’ photos of girls: cops

Bus driver Bruce Garner took upskirt photos of girls cops

A Pennsylvania school bus driver used his cellphone to take “upskirt” photos of unsuspecting girls as they exited the vehicle, authorities said Friday.

Bruce Stanley Garner, a 70-year-old bus driver for the Marple Newtown School District, was arrested Friday at his Lansdowne home on charges including 139 counts of invasion of privacy, Upper Providence Township police said.

“The unspeakable actions of Bruce Garner were an invasion of the teenage victims’ privacy and an attack on their innocence,” Police Chief David Montella said in a statement obtained by The Post.

Investigators were contacted Tuesday by a teen girl and her mother, Montella said.

“As a result of the interview and other information provided, it was apparent that the school bus driver was engaged in an illicit act known as ‘upskirting,’” Montella said, referencing the act of a person surreptitiously taking a photo of another’s genital area.

A student at St. Mary Magdalen School in Media, Pa., went to cops about the allegations.

A search warrant was obtained and an analysis of Garner’s phone led to the arrest. There’s no evidence that Garner had any physical contact with any of the teen victims, Montella said.

The chief also asked the public and media to respect the victims’ privacy and not make attempts to interview them.

Garner is “no longer employed” by Marple Newtown School District and has been barred from returning to school grounds, officials told WPVI.

A student at St. Mary Magdalen School in Media went to cops about the allegations. The victims include teen and preteen girls, the station reported.

In addition to 139 counts of invasion of privacy, Garner was charged with 139 counts of unlawful contact with a minor, 139 counts of criminal use of communication facility, 139 counts of sexual abuse of children, as well as endangering the welfare of children and possessing an instrument of crime.

Each count is tied to a video retrieved from Garner’s phone, according to WPVI.

Garner befriended his victims and chatted them up on the bus, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said.

Some of the girls noticed Garner was holding his cellphone at his side as they got on and off the bus, Stollsteimer said, adding that he “groomed” his young victims.
